It is possible to use the net to continue to express love with someone who you have met and spent time with in person, but for love to start over the net is something else again.
Lets face it, it cannot be love until you have seen someone being ill, or smelly with BO, or heard them fart or burp, or as Dr Phil (whon I usually don't like) says: until you have helped clean up their vomit.
Love is more than good feelings, it is empathy, it is doing, it is providing physical care and it is seeing someone's faults and accepting them.
We don't see people as they really are over the www.

I'll agree that love is a term overly used in todays society and often abused. But then again to each individual love is expressed in different ways and at different levels whatever it may be.
Meeting somebody on the internet, finding common grounds, talents and interests and being able to trust and live for something with as brighter future together is at the least some proof that a strong connection exists. If pursued there's a high chance in it continuing and strengthening the bond in real. After all, from my experience its alot different and easier for me to meet somebody on the internet rather than some dirty club in the city where you cant hear anyway from all the loud music.
Usually we are our own enemys in this case, we tend to over think and make situations worst because of the downside with distance and being without the physical touch.
I say if it feels real to you, and you and your partner can come to terms and speak openly about the insecurities and the like, theres no stopping you in catching the dreams and taking the adventure to find out how real it really is. It can work, if things aren't going to happen for you anytime soon, look foward to somthing, who cares just plan somthing spontaneous now to look foward too.
Just look foward to something, always look foward to life.
but for real love to happen, it takes two of the right kind of people, who possess the right kind of commitment, devotion, and communication skills.
i love you... but for me to be truly in love with you, i'd have to meet you, spend much time with you, and be as involved as possible in your life before i could figure out if we were really truly in love.
most "internet love" is true, unconditional love, because it isn't based on looks, personality, or any of the other things that you have to deal with in real life.
BUT still, being able to live with someone, to deal with their little physical quirks, their appearance, the good and the bad... that is what makes real love.
so in conclusion... love over the internet is only a certain kind of love. it's not really "true love" and can't be until time has been spent with the person irl.
can real, true love start online? yes. is it real, true love? not really. not yet.
